How often do you really consider the condiments you use with your grilled meals? It’s easy to take ketchup or mayo or mustard for granted when it comes out of a bottle or a jar. And that’s why making your own is a great way to change things up.
Homemade ketchup is an easy example. You might even have everything you need in the cupboard or pantry already. It generally starts with kosher salt, olive oil, cracked pepper, tomato paste, brown sugar, an onion, and cider vinegar, and pureed tomatoes. From there you can add things like chili peppers or a strong herb to take it whatever direction fits the rest of the meal. There are a ton of variations on this, so find the one that suits you best and try it this weekend.

This can definitely add to the grilling experience! I stumbled across this recipe a couple of months ago and it’s been a staple for me since.
I haven’t quite cracked homemade mayonnaise yet, though I saw a video from Gordon Ramsay that made it look very easy. Will let you know how it goes!
